Build Status

It's been awhile since I've given an update on what I'm building. I've dragged my feet on My Car to switch my focus to Pet Log. My Car has maybe 3 more core updates until there is nothing else there for me to do unless users have suggestions. Pet Log may or may not make it to the build space presentation but it's going to take a lot more time from me so I can build out the last few core features 2-3 days at a time. Let me break it down...

My Car

My Car behind the scenes is some of the best code I've written in awhile. I'm really proud about it because I used Jetpack Compose, kotlin multiplatform ( KMM), hilt, and flow. If those don't make sense to you it's ok. I'll be doing a deeper dive in another post later this month. Anyway what I need to finish is adding the trim level for cars, test that change (always test kiddos), and then adding in the ability to update events or cars.

Doesn't feel like much but it is kinda a lot. I'm not 100% sure when I'll do this. I'm thinking I'll just take a 4hr span and crank through it, but we shall see. I really wanted to have something "nice" to present at the end of the month so I kinda paused this to assess that situation. If everything works as planned I can get this done and the next app to v1 without many problems.

Pet Log

All I can say here is I need to do everything. I've been taking some lessons learned from building My Car. I've also decided that building this out will be super slow. You will only get 1 pet to start and unlimited events. The actions you can add for your pet is feeding, walk, and bathroom. Where I'm limited on this is that I really only understand dogs.

I want this app to appeal to any pet owner...I'd even take an owner of a rabbit. To do that I have to build slow and make sure I fully flush out ideas before building the next feature. When looking at the code I started over a year ago I wasn't too far off from completion either.

The main issue I had back then was lack of knowledge using Firebase and Jetpack Compose. Now I feel way more confident and I hope people will just bare with me as I make this a robust app.

Anything else?

Well I'm trying to use some AI stuff to make better app descriptions. I'm not sure if it will work but I'll let you know after I've used it for a quarter. Other than that after Pet Log gets into beta I'm going to be in maintenance mode for all apps. Every week I'll put a little more work into anything I have published. I'll start with Pet Log of course and then I'm not sure. Maybe I'll come back and post a schedule...or I'll put it on IG and LinkedIn.

Either way thanks for reading and keeping up with my random. I really do appreciate it.
